VBGI Gs Dia de Muertos

The next season of Virginia Beach Globally Inspired Gatherings (VBGIGs) kicks off Saturday, Nov. 1, with “Día de Muertos” at Zeiders American Dream Theater. Enjoy live music, traditional dance and fashion of the iconic Mexican celebration honoring family and friends who are no longer with us.

Pre-show activities begin at 5 p.m. in the lobby; theater performance is 7:30 p.m. Admission is free, but space is limited. Register online in advance to reserve your spot. Those without tickets will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Pre-Show Activities

Artists and community members seeking inspiration and networking opportunities are welcome to gather at 5 p.m. for a Cultural Equity Committee mixer in the Zeiders American Dream Theater lobby to meet and enjoy Mexican treats and atmosphere.

View elegant and detailed fashion artistry at the Pasarela of Catrinas (pageant of Catrinas) in the lobby, as community members share their interpretations of the culturally iconic Catrina.

Residents may also visit the Zeiders American Dream Theater lobby, noon to 6 p.m., Oct. 28-Nov. 1 for Community Ofrenda (offering/altar).

Events are presented by the Virginia Beach Cultural Affairs Department in partnership with the Hispanic Leadership Forum of Hampton Roads and Zeiders American Dream Theater.

Globally Inspired Gatherings

In alignment with the City of Virginia Beach Arts Plan 2030, VBGIGs encourages attendees to learn about neighbors near and far to spark cultural curiosity through the performing arts. Children will receive a VBGIGs passport and collectible destination stickers to track the world regions they “visited” at VBGIGs performances.
